Nutrition: All campers are required to bring a lunch, beverage, and morning and afternoon snack each day. Due to a large number of campers with severe allergies, Passport is a nut free camp.
Health: A pediatric physician is on call throughout each day to provide routine and emergency care. Administrators and Unit Leaders are CPR and First Aid certified. Please contact the camp office if your child will be taking medication during camp.
Transportation: Passport does not provide transportation to and from camp.
Arrival/Dismissal: Morning arrival is at 9:00 am and dismissal is at 4:00 pm. Tiny Tot and Lower Camp campers may have an optional half day dismissal at 12:00 noon. Early Morning Care is available for all campers from 7:45 - 9:00 am. Extended Day is available from 4:00 - 5:30 pm. We do understand that there are times when you are unable to pick up your child on time. We offer drop-in Early Morning and Extended Day care at an additional charge.
Tuition: All currently enrolled camper's balances must be paid in full by May 1, 2010. For all new campers, payment must be received before the start of their selected session.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How many kids are from within Cambridge Montessori School and how many kids are from outside of the school? About half of the kids signed up are from CMS and half are from outside of the school.
What if my child attends the entire summer; will they be repeating the same activities? No, our specialists create a different theme for each new session (every week) so that children who attend all summer have various activities with a variety of topics.
How long is the regular day? If my child is signed up for a half day? The regular day is 9-4. A half day is from 9-12 and does not include lunch.
Is it a Montessori camp? No, but we do follow some of the basics such as: children being responsible for picking up after themselves, working through conflict in a meaningful way, and creating an inclusive community atmosphere. Some of our staff are from Cambridge Montessori School or other local Montessori schools but we do not use Montessori materials.
When is the registration deadline? There is not a registration deadline, but it is first come first serve. If you register after May 1st, you would need to pay for the tuition in full or speak to the Director to work out an individualized payment plan.
Do you offer discounts and financial aid? 35% Sibling Discount is given to families enrolling additional children in camp, and applies only to those siblings attending the same weeks. Sibling Discount applies to child with lowest total tuition. Sibling discount does not apply to Workshops, Additional Programs, Extended Day or Camping Trips. There is no Financial Aid.

Does swimming cost more? There is no additional cost for swimming.
What is the staff to camper ratio? 2 staff to 9 campers in the Tiny Tots 1:5 for children under age 6 1:8 for children 6 and over
How many kids are in each group? Tiny Tots = 9 campers per group Lower Camp = 10 campers per group Middle Camp= 15 campers per group

Are there family events? We have Family Friday events on the last Friday of every week.
Who are the staff? All specials and intensives (nature, science, visual art…etc) are led by professionals in the field. Unit leaders and counselors consist of Cambridge Montessori staff, Montessori interns, professionals from our local community (teachers etc.) and young adults in the pursuit of higher education (education majors in college etc.).

Does my child need to be toilet trained? No, we will work on toilet training with campers who need it, please notify the Director if your child is not toilet trained.
Is there a nap time? Yes, for Tiny Tots and Lower Camp, they have as little as 1 hour or as much time as they need. Middle Camp has a 45 minute minimum quiet time where they can nap, read, or work on projects. Upper and Senior Camp have free time with their group and counselors.
Who can attend Extended Day? Extended Day is open to all campers. If a Tiny Tot needs Extended Day, please speak with the Director to make arrangements.
What if I need Extended Day, but didn’t sign up ahead of time? You can drop-in at a set rate per day, just let the Director know in the morning or call us to inform.
What will the kids do during extended day/ early morning? It depends on the number of kids signed up. We will have a variety of independent projects for the kids to work on which will change each week. They will also have a snack during that time as well as outdoor play depending on the weather.
When do I have to have my final payment in by? All payments need to be received in full by May 1st.
Will you have a nurse? The state does not require that low risk day camps have a nurse so we do not, but we do have a pediatrician and our school nurse who are on call all hours that the camp is operating. They will be aware of all allergies and medical concerns and will train the health care supervisor to administer any meds.
Do I have to bring lunch and snacks? You are responsible for bringing lunch and two snacks. All food at camp must be “NUT FREE”.
What if I am interested in signing up for the regular school year? Who do I talk to? Admissions will be available throughout the summer.
Can I stay in the mornings for the first few days since it is my child’s first time away from home? Yes, we will collaborate with you to work out a plan that works best to help campers with separation.
Since some of the campers are so young, how will you keep parents/ guardians informed about each day? A schedule of events are handed out on the Monday of each week. Parents will also receive a Daily Report Form with details about their child. Weekly Passport newsletters will also be available every Friday.
How do you make sure that the kids are being picked up by authorized people? There is a greeter each morning as children are being dropped off, and that is the time for parents to let us know if someone else will be picking up their child that day. At pickup a greeter will also have a list of approved people, check the ID’s for every person, and have them initial a pick up list. Once we get to know parents we can stop checking ID’s, but until then we will need to do so for safety. All doors are locked and have security cameras. All campers wear colored pinnies whenever outside. |
