Greetings CMS Families,
I hope that you enjoyed the holiday weekend. Memorial Day is a time for us to honor those service men and women who lost their lives while serving our nation. It also gives us time to reflect on loved ones who are no longer with us. In many ways, the long weekend is symbolic of a change in seasons, bidding farewell to a dear friend – Spring – and embracing a long lost lover – Summer. Both friends and family help us navigate the changing seasons of our lives.
May is one of my favorite months of the year. I celebrate my birthday, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day and, for the last five years, have welcomed my children home from college. This past weekend, my middle daughter returned from a semester abroad in Spain. We hadn’t seen her since she left on one of the coldest days of the winter in January. Needless to say, this made Memorial Day particularly special for me – my family was once again complete.
For educators, May is a time to celebrate the progress of our students and the school’s accomplishments, while reflecting on those days we wish we could wash away. At Cambridge Montessori School, our days and nights in May are filled with classroom exhibits, field trips, plays, concerts, art shows, Grandparents and Special Friends Day and a host of other celebratory events that are quite remarkable. I marvel at our talented faculty and the tremendous amount of time and energy that they invest in our students. I marvel even more when our students confidently share their talents in and out of the classroom.
May is symbolic of the storms weathered and the promise of blooming flowers. By the month of May, many of our students are flourishing at the end of their three-year learning cycle. Please join me on June 11 at our annual Moving Up and Moving On Ceremony as we honor the children rising through our programs. They have worked hard for three years and have achieved so much. I look forward to celebrating their successes, the dedication of our teachers, and our community of supportive parents.
Have a phenomenal week!
