Happy New Year from the Admissions Office!
Happy New Year! While people often struggle writing the new year on checks and other documents during the first few weeks, in the Admissions Office we are often thinking, “it’s finally 2015!” We began discussing 2015 enrollment in the fall with school fairs and our fall Open House, and now it feels like everyone else has finally caught up!
It always seems that after the winter break our children have matured a little, grown a little in inches, our toddlers are more verbal and our eighth graders spend more time thinking about high school. The shift in the calendar year marks those changes. I am fortunate to see firsthand all the changes that go on daily in our programs.
The first thing I did on my first day back yesterday was morning greeting in the Elementary Building. There were many happy parents with some tired – but rested and excited – students. Next, I came to the Toddler/Primary building and met a few of our new families who are joining us now in the new year. I also checked in with a few of the Primary teachers who have “new” students: some Toddlers who have recently “moved up.” There is excitement about new Passport offerings that begin this week and Ski School. Sometimes I wish everyone could have a glimpse of a day in the life of CMS.
I invite you this month to get to know more about CMS. There are a number of events coming up that all are welcome to attend. Whether you have a Toddler or an Upper Elementary student, come learn more about our other programs. We are hosting our first Winter Open House this Thursday to introduce prospective families to Montessori education. Current families are welcome to attend as well, and of course, bring a friend! There are nights dedicated to each program and learning more about the curriculum for each. Next Tuesday, there will be a panel discussion from some of our “young alums”– high school students who have left us recently and can share their experiences about life after CMS. Our annual State of the School will be held on Tuesday, January 27th. This is a very informative night to hear what is going on currently and what our plans are for the future from both Ingrid and our Board of Trustees. I encourage everyone to attend!
I also encourage families to set up a classroom observation appointment. This is a great way to get an insider’s view of CMS. There is always so much to see, observe, and learn. Please let me know anytime if you want to schedule a visit!
I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events, around our buildings or in the parking lot. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Happy New Year!
