Welcome CMS Families!

We have been working collectively as a team preparing classrooms, administrative offices and outdoor space in anticipation for your children’s arrival  tomorrow.  Last week at our orientation, 72 full and part time faculty, staff and administrators expanded our knowledge about best practices in an Montessori  environment, discussed goals and expectations for the upcoming year and participated in a variety of community building activities including a “kick-off the year” barbecue at the Elementary School courtyard.  All of this preparation is to set the stage for the biggest stars of all- your children!

As educators, we want everything perfect for opening day!  An enthusiastic team, clean space and a safe environment are just a few examples that will help create an ideal learning community.  As parents, we want the same thing, including synchronized calendars, refrigerators stocked with more than enough choices for meals and snacks and last but not least a tool box for any transitional tears (for both parents and children). Our goal is to prepare the environment so that we all have a successful year.  Research from the Harvard study for child development states that the partnerships between home and school are critical to student success.

Transitions can be both exciting and challenging.  We are all transitioning from the lazy days of summer to the “structured follies” of fall.  At CMS we are ready for the transition and are eagerly waiting to start the school year.  We are confident that our partnership with you will help create a smooth transition. Thank you for joining us in this journey!  We look forward to welcoming you and your children for the 2014-2015 school year!

Warm regards,

Dr. Ingrid W. Tucker
