Happy New Year from the Admissions Office! It's Preview Time!
Happy New Year from the Admissions Office!
It may be tricky to remember to write 2014, but in the Admissions Office we have been writing 2014 since the fall as we plan for the 2014-2015 school year. It is hard to believe this school year is almost half over, it feels like it was just September. Your children have grown so much and it is such a pleasure to see their growth each day!
As we begin to look at next school year, we would like to invite you to learn more about your child’s next program or learn more about other programs CMS offers. Maybe you have a younger child about to enter our Toddler Program. Maybe you are interested in how Elementary math is taught. Maybe you want to learn more about our Middle School experience. Come find out about any and all of the extraordinary programs CMS offers for children from 21 months through eighth grade.
Tonight is the first of our series of parent education preview nights. We begin tonight at 5pm with our Toddler Program. Cambridge Montessori School has three wonderful Toddler teams in the Green, Pink and Lilac Rooms. Come learn more about how we begin the foundations of independence for our youngest students! At 6pm we build on that experience and talk about our Primary curriculum. Our teachers, led by Charles Terranova, our Curriculum Coordinator, will talk about the sequence of our curriculum and materials in the classroom. The evening will conclude at 7pm with a discussion about the third year of the Montessori program- the Kindergarten year.
On February 4th at 6pm, our Elementary and Middle School teams will provide an overview of their curricula. This is a great introduction for families who want to learn more about what a Montessori elementary education embodies. Current families are also welcome to attend and get a glimpse of what your child is learning. At 7pm we will host a Parent Education Discussion open to all. This year’s panel will include families who have decided to continue their child’s Montessori education beyond their primary years. Please join us for “Tell Me More! Continuing in Montessori through Elementary and Middle School." This will be held in the Elementary Gym.
All of these events are open to the public. Please feel free to bring a friend and introduce them to CMS. Childcare will be provided for CMS families by signing up in the front offices.
One of the best ways to learn more about CMS is our annual State of the School event. State of the School will be held on Tuesday, January 28th at 6:30pmin the Elementary Gym. You will hear important information ranging from staffing, curriculum and strategic goals from our Head of School, Dr. Ingrid Tucker. The Board of Trustees will also provide updates on the work committees are doing to advance the mission of CMS. This is an event that we hope you will not miss, especially as we celebrate our 50th anniversary!
Not only are these great opportunities to learn more about our rich curriculum, but we also invite families to set up a time to observe in our classrooms. If you are interested, please contact Nikki Toon, Assistant Director of Admissions.
In the coming weeks families will be receiving our re-enrollment contracts for the 2014-2015 school year. Contracts and deposits must be returned by Friday, February 14th. During the February break the Admissions Office will be concluding interviews for new students. Acceptances and contracts for new students (including siblings) will be mailed in early March. It is critical for us to know how many spots are vacant for new students based on how many spots we have available. Last year there were wait lists in Toddler, Primary and our Elementary programs. If you have any question about the Admissions timelines, please feel free to email me any time.
Looking forward to seeing many people at our upcoming events!
