Cambridge Montessori School Head of School, Dr. Ingrid Tucker, to receive Women of Courage and Conviction Award from the Greater Boston Section of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc.
Dr. Ingrid Tucker, Cambridge Montessori School’s Head of School will be awarded the Women of Courage and Conviction Award from the Greater Boston Section of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. at the organization’s 20th anniversary banquet on Saturday, April 6th. The theme of this year’s banquet is “Recognizing the Past – Envisioning the Future.”
Dr. Tucker came to Cambridge Montessori School in July of 2011 after serving for five years as the President of Mother Caroline Academy and Education Center in Dorcherster, a tuition-free middle school for low-income girls and their families in inner-city Boston. She has also served as Middle School Director and Assistant Head of School at Beaver Country Day School, Director of Admissions at the Atrium School and Dean of Multicultural Affairs at the Cambridge School of Weston. Dr. Tucker trained teachers at Beginning Teachers Institute in Little Compton, Rhode Island and has facilitated trainings in public and private schools working with teachers in the areas of Assessment, Classroom Management, and School Culture for the New England School Development Council (NESDEC).
Dr. Tucker is a Board of Trustee member of the Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE.. She also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Montessori Schools of Massachusetts (MSM) and Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School in Waltham.
Cambridge Montessori School is accredited by the AISNE and the American Montessori Society (AMS). The school currently enrolls 220 students from 21 months through eighth grade. Cambridge Montessori School encourages independent, self-directed learning for life in a child-centered, international community valuing peace, respect for others, and pride in individual differences. This fall the school will celebrate its 50th anniversary of providing an authentic, multicultural Montessori experience to children and families in Cambridge and the surrounding communities.
